The BlueIQ is the best example of a well made sustainable ecosystem. The product packaging and information booklet are 2nd to none. I was really impressed when it shipped to me. Both shipments (1 alive and 1 with basic components) arrived quickly, and intact, and were really easy to set up. After the sediment settles, a brand new ecosystem was ready for view. The lack of preparation was a huge plus for such an attractive container. Overall, I really have nothing bad to say about it, and compared to what you can pay for some other sustainable ecosystems, the BlueIQ is the best value on the market, and it makes a great gift for young and old alike.

This is such a great idea! I'm an attorney that has a very stressful job and love this mini ecosystem because it has a very calming effect and makes my office look professional with it's a great design.
This little ecosystem comes in TWO PACKAGES. The first package arrived and included a hand blown glass vase, a huge set of tweezers so I don't have to put my hand in the tank, a magnifying glass, thermometer, thread and a neat instruction book. The packaging, according to the BlueIQ customer service is made of 100% recycled material! Once reading the instructions, you're given a serial number, which is then used to order your livestock. I love how this comes in two packages, where the livestock can be ordered secondly,since this takes the worry of keeping the livestock alive while it sits under a tree for christmas season! I spent a few minutes on their website, where they allow you to "virtually" build your own before you order the livestock and substrate so I could get the look I wanted. I then placed my order of livestock and substrate, which is included FOR FREE!
I received over five shrimp, three snails and two different types of plants, since they package the shrimp with a small bit of moss for them to hold on to while they are shipped. The course rock substrate really has to be seen up close to be appreciated. Many of the pieces have shimmering specks of gold, which looks beautiful and are large enough for the shrimp to have all sorts of little caves to live in.

A very impressive system. Both packages (#1 & 2) arrived in excellent condition with professional attention to details. I received the second package two days ago, and already love these little creatures - my new pets! I just need to keep them away from my other pet, a huntress cat.
