I bought this mat to go on top of a folding guest bed. Serves that purpose well, but be advised that it is VERY FIRM. I will be purchasing additional foam to put on top of this.

My husband and I were looking at getting a shiki futon that we could pull out and sleep on and put away in the morning - the only ones we could find were at least $350 and would take weeks to get delivered. This was half the price and shipping was two-day and free (awesome!). We put sheets on this mat and use it as a mattress; not only is it convenient that we can fold it up and put it in the closet but it is also one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on! The only drawbacks I can find are that yes it is pretty flipping heavy when you fold it up (understandable: it is a queen-size mat) and that the velcro down the quarter seams of the bed doesn't like to hold on to each other - so you have to push the four pieces together every once in a while so there isn't a giant crack down and through the middle of your sleeping space. Other than that - I say buy it!

This works perfect folded in half to make it a thick twin-sized bed. It's great for camping, guests, or traveling. My brother is currently using it as his only bed in between moving. It is a bit bulky (takes up the entire trunk of a newer Chrysler 300) but it doubles as small couch or table if needed. My nieces and nephews love to use it as a gymnastics mat and I (a big guy - 6' 3" 250lb+) find it great to sleep on. My brothers love it too. Folded to the queen size, it's great for kids' sleep overs! Folded in half, it's a firm mattress, which I prefer. It's very supportive and distributes weight evenly. You could probably add a pillow or egg-cushion top if you want it a little softer. Like I said, exactly what I was looking for!
