These folding mats are great for overnight guests. We have already used ours many times for our grandchildren. They are big enough for a normal sized adult. Since we purchased two of these, we can store them stacked and they look just like an ottoman. Can actually be used for seating. Are much faster to set up than a blow up mattresses. They are probably more comfortable also, although I have not slept on one. We are going to take them camping with us. I think they will be great to use in our RV for extra beds. Can also be used in a tent. I notice that they have zippers so I assume you can take them off to wash. Haven't had to do that yet. I like these so much, I think I will purchas another one or two.

My mattress arrived much earlier than expected!
I have prefered to sleep on the floor for the past 10 years and I am a side sleeper. Traditional mattresses make my back ache. My current apartment has concrete floors with thin carpet installed. I purchased this mattress after reading all the reviews and am 100% satisfied with it in every regard. Additionally, it fits in perfectly with my Asian themed bedroom. As other reviewers indicated, it arrives vacuum packed and resumes it's normal shape and size upon taking it out of the sealed bag. The outer cardboard box had normal shipping/handling dents, but was totally intact. There was no odor that other reviewers mentioned. I give this mattress a score of 100% on everything: exactly as described, quality, comfort, and usefullness. The stitching is well done and should hold up indefinitely. Each section has its own zipper and since the cover is polyester, it can possibly be gently washed in cool water. Likewise, the foam pieces could be replaced if necessary. The feel when lying on it is total comfort; excellent support, thanks to the dense foam used. My cat agrees. He got onto the mattress immediately, as soon as it was out of the bag. I had to forcefully remove him and now plan to buy a square of this same type of foam locally and sew a cover so that he'll have his own.
I will be purchasing more of these in the near future to have spares for guests. I can't say enough good about this mattress. Perfect comfort, fold up during the day if you wish, layer several if you want to be higher off the floor or use it on a platform.

as others have mentioned, there is a slight chemical aroma, but it's not really strong or offensive and the pluses certainly outweigh this slight minus. i did wake up a little stuffed up from slight congestion, but that may be from some other reason... or it may be from the material but i imagine it might be my body readjusting to the futon or perhaps because my sleep was so deep. i would have to sleep on it for a couple more nights to be sure.
it's a bit narrow (which doesn't bother me), but incredibly comfortable. i slipped a bedspread on it right after i got through the box and wrapping and all. immediately, i fell into a great, restorative nap. i felt so great waking up-- thought i had slept 3-4 hours, but it was only an hour.
i had an old futon i was using before this. it was slouched in from overuse and was giving me back pain. it had little support and i was desperately searching for other options. i lived in japan for a couple of years some time ago and really wanted something similar to what i had there. i like the idea of my bed being close to the ground, while being comfortable and offering support. this futon certainly does its job and does it well.
seems like it's going to be some wonderful restful nights coming up, with a happy back. i just hope the shikibuton maintains its shape over time, but it seems quite firm and the material resilient enough to do so.
